Bali, Bali, Bali. Truly one of the most magical, beautiful places I have ever been to. And this past month sharing this little gem with my husband was even more of a gift. I went to Bali in my early twenties and fell in love with the people, the lifestyle and food. It’s been on my list to go back on my next trip with my husband. For one, because we both were in need of some decompression after the holidays and secondly, I have been wanting him to see and experience the beauty of the people and country of Bali.

Traveling to Bali isn’t just a quick weekend getaway, however, I do promise it is worth the journey. Once you are there it is totally worth it. We broke up our 16 day trip by traveling into Singapore first for 3 days and then went on to Bali for the majority of our time away, followed by our last 3 nights in Hong Kong. We felt that if we are going to be traveling for about 24 hours we might as well get the maximize our sightseeing of places we both hadn’t been.

Before landing in Bali, I had envisioned my trip from my early twenties.  The only slight disappointment was probably the traffic. Granted, we did choose the busiest time of the year to be there, but nonetheless, took twice the time to get from town to town. My husband doesn’t travel well with windy roads, so the added hours weren’t his favorite.

My favorite towns during the trip were Uluwatu and Ubud. They are both relaxing, and one of the most beautiful places we could have imagined to relax and be happy not doing so much.

In Ubud we were very fortunate to stay at a hotel along the river. The best way I feel I can describe it would be that it felt like the backdrop in Jurassic Park. Green, and lush – I was just waiting for some dinosaurs to wander in.

Because we had Singapore and Hong Kong in our itinerary, I had to pack a few dressier “city” items in with my 80-85 degree tropical weather gear. Because I am very active, I packed my ‘Gabbi’ Reversible Legging for my workouts with the matching ‘Gabbi’  reversible sports bra. The material breathes well and dries quickly. The versatility of the design fit my gym workouts in the city as well as my beach runs in Bali.

Since I love being comfortable while I travel, I always travel in my COCO’s. What can I say… It’s all I know! I packed our ‘Mika’ black liquid Legging which went from my plane rides to my date night out in Hong Kong. For my date night I paired them with a cute Zara shirt that had a slight shine to match the shine of the legging. I threw on my dressier tennis shoes and a leather jacket and was out the door ready for our first night in Hong Kong!

During my time outside of our excursions and travel time, exercising is something that is important for me to make time for no matter where in the world I am. It a huge mental stress release for me. Not that vacation is stressful but I still am addicted to the endorphin release I get from my workouts, as well as setting the time aside for me to take care of myself mentally and physically during this time. With that said, I always pack my workout bands. Even if I can’t get a good run or cardio session in, I know I can get my fix by using just my body weight, a towel and bands.

Yes - towel. One of my staples for on the go workouts is a towel and whatever surface I can slide on to do a single legs side squat or a Pilates plank with V-Ups using the towel as if it were a Pilates reformer. I will also use any bench or chair in the room for single leg lunges.

On a final closing note, I will say traveling for me is all about walking around and exploring – seeing new places, new people, new faces and immersing yourself in a place and culture that is not your norm. Bali was exactly what my husband and I needed to slow down and enjoy the time after the busy month of December. I’m interested to know your favorite things to do when you travel and what you keep on your packing list consistently?
